The Senior Writer crafts the voice of Legal & General America, through creation of compelling, brand-compliant marketing and communications across all external channels and mediums, in support of the organization’s growth ambitions.

 

Reporting to the Director, PR, Social Media & Brand, the Senior Writer closely collaborates with our marketing and design teams to bring LGA’s story to life through engaging content across all digital and traditional channels to help drive revenue. This individual is an experienced, creative and skilled storyteller, and owns the copy portion of the creative process, from conception, research, drafting and editing through final production. The Senior Writer thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the marketing account leaders, their account teams and designers to create compelling, brand-focused marketing campaigns and thought leadership content to support the organization’s growth objectives.
  1. Collaborate and support the marketing strategy teams as appropriate with content strategy development.
  1. Research internally and externally as appropriate to gather the insights needed for content development
  1. Conduct interviews with LGA subject matter experts to glean insights for content development.
  1. Write and edit content for all marketing and digital platforms targeted towards B2B and D2C audiences, for integrated campaigns including social media, email copy, web and SEO content, ad copy, video scripts, sales talking points, sales support materials, blog content and other thought leadership pieces.
  1. Develop content and captions for LGA’s organic social media presence.
  1. Support IT and Operations teams with copy as necessary for updates to our digital platform or customer service portals.
  1. Stay ahead of copy and content best practices and leverage these to continually help LGA advance in its messaging efforts.
  1. Act as a brand ambassador and support key stakeholders around the organization to ensure their communications reflect our brand voice and messaging.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, marketing or relevant field.

Experience/Knowledge

  • 5-7 years of copywriting/storytelling experience in the insurance/financial services industry (or other highly-regulated industry)
  • Journalistic writing experience a plus, but not required
  • Proven research/interview capabilities
  • Knowledge of, and experience with copy/messaging best practices across all marketing channels
  • Experience creating copy that drives results in alignment with business objectives, and meets key performance indicators
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications. (Office, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must provide writing samples/portfolio
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal abilities
  • Detail and process oriented
  • Naturally curious, with the ability to mine insights and analyze trends, for future initiatives
  • Strong project manager and multitasker

 

What’s in it for you?

 

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $90,800 - $124,900 annually.  This would be a hybrid role in Frederick, MD.

 

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses.  This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 8% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date.  This role has 15 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
