The Accountant will perform various accounting duties as outlined below specifically focused on supporting the operational accounting needs of LGRA.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and prepare for cash management team the daily retirement funding necessary from each investment account based on contract details and reinsurance/administrative counterparts for each retirement deal.
  • Maintain a database of all retirement deals including all nuances that affect accounting.
  • Review and/or prepare daily reconciliation between bank and general ledger including stops, reclamations, returned checks/EFTs and communicate open items that need retirement team processing attention.
  • Prepare the complex reconciliations for banking and all retirement suspense accounts.
  • Oversee and act as the point person for any issues related to check and EFT file processing and reconciliation to source systems for retirement.
  • Collaborate with retirement team on complex reconciliation issues and verify accounting as possible solutions are tested/ validate in productions.    
  • Prepare the quarterly intercompany detailed work papers for LGRA required for reimbursement authorization.
  • Review and or prepare the daily transmission of retirement tax withholdings to Sovos for federal and all states, the daily authorization of payments to the various reporting entities when due and the subsequent validation of payment and associated journal entries.
  • Work with retirement team and associated programmers as new deal functionality and changes to the PRT policy administration platform are discussed and facilitate the process of addressing accounting operations changes required and associated testing.
  • Manage the retirement escheat process. Ensure that all escheatable items are included in the state escheat filings and remittance reports based on state regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare audit request as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

BS/BA in accounting

 

Experience/Knowledge

2-4 years accounting experience in general accounting; financial reporting exposure preferred.

Solid understanding of general accounting principles

 

 

Skills

Self initiative and problem solving skills

Ability to handle confidential information

Ability to manage multiple priorities

Ability to work under pressure

Proficient user of Excel

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Highly organized and Detailed

What’s in it for you?

 

Schedule is 7am to 3:30pm.

 

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $89,375 annually. This role will be hybrid with 3 days per week in office.

 

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses.  This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 8% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date.  This role has 15 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
