The Senior Product Owner will work directly with all business, operations and technology partners to set the product and services roadmap to deliver transformational programs in life insurance products. Act as a liaison between the business and technology to translate business needs into technical requirements and to develop innovative ideas that are end-to-end solutions. Should be an expert in product designs, solution ideation, documentation, walkthroughs and influencing various stakeholders.

 

Foster and build a team who are empowered to continually improve. Work directly with stakeholders to understand needs, gaps, opportunities, and develop product backlogs.  Develop acceptance criteria and be the advocate of the product by communicating launches and educating stakeholders

Responsibilities

  1. Partners with stakeholders across the organization and communicates, documents, designs and maps the product and technical solutions and new feature development.
  2. Take ownership of all aspects of proposition change readiness, development and delivery the Product Owner is empowered to make decisions on behalf of all stakeholders, creating a single source of opinion, and mandates the use of fact based decision making where possible, to mitigate the impact of multiple opinions on design.
  3. Develops, prioritizes, and executes the product roadmap and solution in collaboration with other key organizational stakeholders.
  4. Facilitates solution sign offs with key business and IT stakeholders.
  5. Sign offs on ready to sprint and a product development backlog including user stories, facilitating discussions on prioritization of releases and features. Facilitate and drive a test and learn approach with customers to the product development.
  6. Ability to influence and communicate the vision for the proposition to all stakeholders and team, based on customer insights and company vision.
  7. Set the pace and act as a role model to the principles of agile, test and learn and continuous improvement.
  8. Reviews the business needs, priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.
  9. Foster a team environment that is open, informed and empowered, in order to continually improve effectiveness and deliver value to the business. Build a strong team and enable the team to deliver the vision.
  10. Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  11. Agree with stakeholders the value targets for the proposition and prioritize the backlog and funding to achieve the agreed outcome.
  12. Manage all stakeholders through effective communications and interactions to support effective decision-making and manage the smooth and integrated delivery of the product roadmap.
  13. Determine, monitor, and review the cost/benefit analysis and business risk, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective governance arrangements, supported by appropriate reporting.
  14. Manage scope to achieve delivery and organizational objectives in line with the product roadmap, approved funding and within expected quality and timescales.
  15. Turns data insight into actionable outcomes that ultimately improve the customer experience.
  16. Demonstrate compliance with agreed methodology, standards, policies and procedures to ensure strong governance, sharing knowledge and providing feedback and ideas so that performance is continually improved.

Qualifications

Education/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Scrum Product Owner Certification (CSPO)
  • 10+ years of business experience
  • 8+ years of leadership experience
  • 8+ years of insurance industry experience

Experience:

  • Direct experience with operational processes, data analysis, and business case development
  • Strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, external constituencies, decision makers, and stakeholders
  • Understanding of Agile Scrum framework
  • Ability to structure and break down complex problems to drive results
  • Familiarity with technology processes
  • Experience with business transformation

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated strong combined leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated solid written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to executive management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of industry acceptable project management principles
  • Ability to interact with executive levels within the company
  • Detailed understanding of System Development Life Cycle methodology
  • Strong relationship building skills and demonstrated ability to influence all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor and manage staff
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large scale, complex, highly visible projects and programs                                                                        
  • In-depth knowledge of the business and/or technology functions that will be supported      
  • Self-motivated

What’s in it for you?

The expected hiring compensation range for this position is $117,500 - $161,600 annually.

This position will work in a hybrid environment with up to 3 days in office per week.

 

The total compensation package for this position may include other elements, such as a sign-on bonus, long term incentives, and annual bonuses.  This role is eligible to participate in the Legal & General America Annual Incentive Plan. The current target payment for the position is 20% of base salary, modified for corporate and individual performance. Bonuses are pro-rated based on start date.  This role has 20 vacation days and 10 sick days that are accrued on a bi-weekly basis. Employees also have 9 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
