Purpose and Objective

Legal & General Retirement America (LGRA) is seeking a data analyst to take full responsibility for the technical data analysis across the organization. This will include providing control of all LGRA data structures and helping to design a data strategy for all LGRA systems and ancillary platforms. This role will work alongside enterprise, solution, and data architects to support key data analysis to support the data aspirations of the organization.


This position will provide a level of governance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and traceability of the data is maintained across all systems to support reporting requirements, to enable confidence in the current and future integrity of our data.  Additionally, this position provides input to senior management to ensure the business & IT Strategy is underpinned by the data strategy and architecture enabling and supporting the delivery of strategic objectives.


  • Define and establish a framework for documenting and communicating data requirements with the relevant partners.
  • Take ownership of documenting business, functional and technical requirements related to data, ETL requirements, data lineage, and quality.
  • Lead full-spectrum data analysis against the requirements and build/maintain a range of documents related to data flows, source to target mapping, conversion logic, business definitions, etc., and gain appropriate approvals.
  • Own data-related test cases and scripts that correspond to business requirements as an input to test planning.
  • Ensure key data aspects of the project are appropriately understood by various partners.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, the business, and IT team as the need arises to ensure understanding of requirements and initiatives.
  • Constantly assess industry and best practice against internal methodology and introduce improvements.
  • Communicate and promote the benefits of good data practices.
  • Build and maintain conceptual, logical data models and Data Dictionary.
  • Support and lead the data integration, mining needs, and dashboard initiatives for the organization
  • Support development of reports by working with teams to determine applications, backend systems, gaps and constraints associated with business processes and provide thoughtful solutions to extract the right data.
  • Perform Data Analysis, Validation, Cleansing, Verification to identify Data mismatch across applications.
  • Develop sophisticated SQL scripts/queries/stored procedures for validating backend testing of databases records and APIs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data governance artifacts like data dictionaries, data maps, environment maps and information flows between applications/systems.
  • Work with third-party application owners and developers to investigate the use of APIs to recommend solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing support for report development.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Work with data partners to develop/ improve data to gain required insights.


  • Five years of demonstrated ability as a system analyst, data analyst, or similar role.
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering/MIS or relative field with equivalent experience.
  • Experience in query and reporting tools, such as Business Objects, SSRS or data discovery tools such as QlikView and Tableau.
  • Skilled in problem solving and technical analysis.
  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and experience around data governance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate progress, raise issues, document actions taken
  • Knowledge around data visualization software tools like Alteryx, Power BI, etc and cloud data warehouse tools like snowflake a plus
  • Knowledge in writing/implementing ETL, Profiling and Data Quality tools.
  • Experience in facilitating and hosting workshops and focus groups with SMEs and senior leaders.
  • Significant experience of data analysis in support of Data Warehouse, BI, Data Analytics and complex Data Migration solutions including analyzing source systems, reconciliation and DQ issues.
  • Effective relationship-building skills with the ability to influence peers, leaders and business customers
  • Collaborative attitude focused on achieving personal accomplishments through making those around you successful.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to stay organized and a solid attention to detail.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Background in technology with experience using strategic enterprise patterns in SDLC
  • Knowledge or experience with Mainframe/legacy systems
  • Background or experience with programming or scripting
  • Experience, or solid understanding, of Financial Service / Insurance (PRT) concepts and business data
  • Experience working with Agile development processes and methodologies
