  • Overview

    The US Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) market is thriving and we can often be bidding on numerous deals at any one time. The Distribution Associate role includes end-to-end management of a deal with exposure to a wide variety of teams, senior management and external parties.


    The role includes sourcing and bidding of new deals, the production of proposals and client presentations, liaising with pricing and understanding the actuarially produced prices for our deals, understanding our financial reports and metrics, and management of intermediary relationships.


    Management of a deal includes:

    • Review RFPs, be able to summarize key items and produce responses
    • Create due diligence materials and proposal package materials which will include:
    • Liaising with Pricing, Operations and Legal in order to produce a complete proposal package for PRT deals
    • Developing a deep understanding of our business and portray this understanding to those companies who conduct due diligence on us.
    • Have an understanding of the actuarial principles behind pricing PRT deals.  Work with the Pricing team to ensure a competitive and profitable pricing process. 
    • Maintain deal pipeline and develop relevant market statistics
    • Conduct PRT market research/analysis
    • Establish and maintain relationships with brokers and consultants in the PRT market to ensure market opportunities are identified and executed.
    • Special projects, additional responsibilities as needed



    • College Degree (BA / BS) required. Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting or other quantitative related field is preferred.



    • 4+ years experience in financial, investment or insurance industry
    • Previous experience in an actuarial role plus ideally also experience in a marketing role and experience building external client relationships.
    • Practical knowledge of US Pension Risk Transfer business.
    • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and Access)



    • Ability to develop basic understanding of highly technical content and translate into appropriate content for our clients
    • Analytical and technical skills
    • Strong initiative with ability to adapt to manage multiple projects
    • Willingness for some travel to Maryland office (approx. 5- 10% of the time)
    • Strong writing skills
    • Strong project management skills, highly detail oriented
    • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple work-streams
    • Critical problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions
    • Understanding of actuarial concepts behind PRT business
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with executive-level individuals, both internal and external
