    Responsibilities

    The Investment Strategist is a new position on the Investments team. The new hire will assist the Vice President, Investments in managing the investment portfolios of Legal & General America’s Insurance and Pension Risk Transfer businesses.

     

    • Investment strategy research and implementation: participating in or leading projects of identifying, analyzing, recommending and implementing new investment strategies that offer attractive risk/ return profiles in a capital efficient framework
    • Supporting new Pension Risk Transfer transactions: recommending asset allocations, identifying appropriate investments, assisting with assets-in-kind valuations and transfers, researching and implementing hedging strategies as necessary.
    • Asset liability management: leading or assisting in building up and running the firm’s ALM process, including asset modeling, analyzing asset and liability cash flows, and recommending solutions to improve the business’ ALM profile.
    • Working with internal and external asset managers on such matters as creating new investment mandates, developing or updating investment guidelines, and formulating investment strategies.
    • Helping report and manage various investment risks: monitoring and analyzing the portfolio’s major risks; creating regular and ad-hoc investment risk reports; recommending and implementing strategies to mitigate investment risks.
    • Leading or participating in various projects as needed, such as new asset manager due diligence, liquidity management, peer analyses, etc.
    • This person will work closely with various teams in the Stamford, CT, Frederick, Maryland and Chicago, IL offices as well as in the London headquarters.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field, e.g. finance, economics and business. A master’s degree/ MBA in a related field is preferred
    • A CFA charterholder is strongly preferred

     

    Experience/Knowledge

    • At least 7 years of experience in investment management, investment risk management and/ or asset liability management; 10 or more years of experience preferred
    • Strong fixed income knowledge
    • Insurance industry experience is strongly preferred
